Our Purpose: Core Memories and Snowsports for all.

UASC is at the core of thousands of people's University of Auckland experience. We are the biggest sports club on campus, and one of the biggest Student Uni Clubs in the country. Whether you carve the mountain like a pro or you've never seen snow, our club is here to give you a good time and ensure you make friends and memories for a lifetime. The UASC lodge is a 32-bed haven for students and alike to gather up on the mountain throughout the winter season. It’s ridiculously close to the main chairlift at the base of Whakapapa, just a few minutes walk and you’re in line to get up the mountain. We hold events with organised transport every few weekends to make sure there’s an opportunity for everyone to get down there at some point.

The UASC Lodge: Since 1966

UASC is one of the oldest student clubs at the University of Auckland. Back in 1966, our founding members laid down the foundations for the UASC Lodge in the Whakapapa Skifield on Mt Ruapehu. Over almost 60 year and many renovations, the Lodge has hosted thousands and thousands of eager students ready to hit the slopes and have a good time, and even with all the student antics we’ve been able to keep the place in good knick, hopefully for many more years to come.

Wake up to views like this every morning

Regular working bees and hard mahi from the committee means the lodge is nice and warm, ready for another year of good times. With two large bunk rooms upstairs, a kitchen, ski tuning room, drinking pit, and massive open floor living and dining area, the lodge is the place to be this winter.

Whakapapa Skifield, Mt Ruapehu

The UASC Lodge is located in the Whakapapa Skifield, on the Northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu, an active Volcano in the heart of the North Island! Whakapapa is one of the largest skifields in Aotearoa New Zealand, with a skiable terrain of over 1360 acres across a 570m elevation drop. The UASC Lodge sits in the carpark of Whakapapa, and is just a 3-5 min walk from the bottom of the Sky Waka Gondola, meaning you can be on the slopes in no time!
